APEC Beijing – Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday returned home from an arduous 11-day overseas sojourn covering attendance at the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and the 19th G20 Summit and state visits to Peru and Brazil. Beijing says China’s Foreign Ministry states that the whole journey was in friendship, cooperation, and unity replete with major diplomatic accomplishments.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
Nearly 40 events attended by President Xi during his visit from November 13 to 23, 2024-including bilateral and multilateral activities as well as over 60 cooperation agreements signed during the trip – have not only furthered relations with major countries but also aided in the further strengthening of unity among the Global South, also known as developing nations, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated.
APEC’s Vision for Inclusive Growth
At the APEC summit in Lima, Peru, President Xi was seen calling out for inclusive development in the Asia-Pacific region. In his view, he says everyone has to benefit through the development model. During this summit, new agreement among leaders was also adopted, through which the area will be made into a free trade area one of the step forward toward open economy, points out President Xi.
China’s Role in Global Development
China has been an advocate of regional cooperation in Asia-Pacific, and President Xi reiterated the commitment to the idea by promising to work with regional partners in continuing to build an even more prosperous future. The G20 Summit later narrowed down to “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.” One of the key takeaways from the meeting was to create a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty that would address the issues of developing countries. President Xi told the story of China’s success in poverty reduction: “the experience of China proved that if it is determined, then it could be done by hard work and efforts.”. APEC
China’s Global Commitment
At both summits, President Xi reiterated that China would support the Global South. He noted that China, as part of this group, would continue working with other developing nations to ensure a fairer and more balanced international order. APEC
During the visit, President Xi made it clear that China takes a leadership position in the global world and presses further toward cooperation, unity, and development of all nations especially those in dire need.
